My Skin Care Routine

Skin care is one of the most important aspects of beauty, but it can also be the most overwhelming. From brightening to pore reduction, it is hard to know what to use and how to use it.

For a very long time I did not care or pay attention to skin products (which I regret), but once I did begin to figure out that I should take better care of my skin it was very hard to find products that worked well for me. I have dry skin but also am prone to acne and get oily in the T-zone. This made finding products hard! I needed something that would moisturize those dry spots but not add so much oil that I would break out. That’s a lot to ask for, at least I thought!

After trying every product imaginable, from drugstore to high end, I finally was able to find a routine that works for me.

My holy grail brand is First Aid Beauty.

First Aid Beauty is amazing for all skin types, even those of you with sensitive skin! Since using this brand I have recommended it to many friends with skin types ranging from extremely oil to even having psoriasis. They all found that these products were great for their skin type!

If you’re interested in purchasing any of the products mentioned in this blog they will be linked at the bottom!

Daily Routine:

Face Wash:

Every morning and every night I wash my face with the Pure Skin Face Cleanser by First Aid Beauty. I love this face wash because it removes everything, even that tough waterproof mascara will come off with this baby!

It is hard to find a face wash that both gently cleanses your skin and can be used to remove your make-up. This face cleanser has saved me money in the long run because I no longer need to buy products that remove my makeup before cleansing my skin. It has also been more environmentally friendly as I no longer use the throw-away, one-use makeup wipes.

Exfoliate, Tone and Brighten:

After washing my face and removing my mask of make-up from the day I will use the Facial Radiance Pads by First Aid Beauty. These are amazing because they exfoliate off dead skin but also help to tone and brighten your skin all in one step.

These specific pads I recommend because they exfoliate but are still gentle. I found that other exfoliators I have used in the past were harsh on my skin and have left my skin feeling raw.

P.S. This product lasts forever, as you can tell by the photo I have had mine for a long time… and it has been through a lot!

Secret tip! Cut the pads in half, to double the amount of pads you have for the same cost! This is a great tip for us girls living on a budget. I would do this with any face pads you have. Let’s face it they are often made way to large anyways!

Moisturize:

After exfoliating with the face pads I wait for my skin to completely dry before adding my moisturizer. I used to be one of those girls that skipped the moisturizing process because I always thought it would add more acne and oils (which I had enough of thanks). However, it’s the opposite, and moisturizing your skin daily is a vital step to having that healthy looking, glowy skin we all want.

I have two favourite moisturizers that I cannot live without! These are both amazing because they quench thirsty, dry skin but will not make you break out! Really what more could you want.

First is, the Ultra Repair Cream by First Aid Beauty (shocking I know). This is my go-to moisturizer, especially right before bed. It does not leave your skin looking oily or greasy but it will hydrate dry skin areas.

The second moisturizer I love to use during the day is the Estee Lauder DayWear. This is a little pricey but it is a moisturizer, sunscreen and is tinted! This baby replaces my foundation most days. I love that it has SPF because it is surprisingly hard to find a good tinted moisturizer with SPF.

Student Secret Saviour:

This last product is my secret to looking awake, alive and on the ball for those tough mornings (no it’s not coffee). This product is perfect for every Uni student or every girl trying to survive her first adult job. This is the Eye Duty Triple Remedy.

Okay, so you know that old trick of taking a cold spoon and putting it under your eye to lower those bags and make it look like you actually got 8 hours of sleep instead of 4. Well this is that in a skin care product! This is a tinted eye product that will counteract dark circles under the eye, but it also has a built in metal applicator that remains cold to help reduce puffy, tired eyes! If there is any product I would recommend on this list it would 10/10 be this one!

Until next time

– Jill
