Favourite Beauty Products of 2018

2018 is now over, and wow did that go by fast!

To wrap up the year I want to look back at some of my favourite products. In 2018 I really began experimenting more with both drugstore and high end makeup brands. Some I loved, while others… not so much.

Here is a list of all my favourite beauty products of 2018!

Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
For the longest time I was unsure if I liked primers, do they really work? Are they just clogging my pores? In 2018 I began using this primer, and it changed my mind all together. I fell in love. On a night out this primer is great for ensuring your makeup stays in place, and looking like it is freshly applied hours later.

Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation
I used this foundation almost every single day of 2018. Whether I was just going to school for the day or having a night out with the girls this was my go to. It’s full coverage, blends well and is very affordable! What more could you want. I even like this foundation over many of my high-end, expensive foundations. It can be quite drying, but for my ladies with dry skin they also make a hydrating formula that is just as amazing.

Concealer: NARS Radient Creamy Concealer
This concealer has been my favourite concealer for the longest time. In Canada, unfortunately Tarte Shape Tape is not sold in stores (and it is tough buying face products online) so I am not part of that craze. This NARS concealer is worth the price tag. It lasts a long time, blends easily and has a range of shades to choose from. In comparison to many drug store concealers, this lasts double the time so you’ll end up saving money.

Setting Powder: Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder
Setting powders can make or break your look on a night out, especially when it comes to brightening those under eyes and keeping that concealer from sliding around. Maybelline makes this amazing setting powder that (in my opinion) is better than Laura Mercier while being a fraction of the cost. This powder is also nice because it comes in a variety of shades, to fit every face!

Bronzer/Highlighter: Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow Palette
For my bronzer and highlighter every single day in 2018 I used this palette. The shade sculpt is the perfect bronzer shade for me, it is a cooler toned brown but does not make you look like a zombie. The bronzer is also very buildable making it the perfect shade to use both for a natural during the day look and a darker evening look. This palette also has the two highlighters that I like to use daily. Both the shades strobe and stunner look amazing, and you can even mix them together for a third freebie shade. The highlighters in this palette have a nice shine without being too chunky. One of the best parts of this palette is that it offers shades for a range of colours, the other three shades in the palette would be suitable for some darker toned women.

Eyes: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
2018 was the year of eyeshadow palettes for me, I went on a craze of purchasing palettes and for some reason I felt like I needed to get my hands on every one possible (Which really hurt my bank account). My all time favourite palette that I purchased this year was the Modern Renaissance Palette. I would recommend this palette to anyone that loves the warm tone browns, oranges and pinks. The colours in this palette are pigmented and blend beautifully. I have hit pan on nearly all the shades, and will be heading back to Sephora for a second one soon!

Lips: Tarte Colour Splash Lipstick
I know what you’re thinking “What not a liquid matte lipstick?!” But trust me, this stuff is worth it. I love the liquid matte lipstick just as much as the next gal but I have extremely dry lips. Especially during the Canadian winter my lips cannot handle the Matte lipsticks. That’s why I love this lipstick. It is so hydrating it feels like you’re wearing lip chap! It is also very long wearing and of course all Tarte products are cruelty free and Vegan, so how can you not love that!

Well that’s everything! I hope this gave you some ideas of new products you might like to try out in 2019. Comment below some of your favourite products, I am always looking for new things to try out!

Until next time,

-Jill
